What is Fat Dissolve?

Fat Dissolve is a gel-based aqueous solution made from deoxycholate family acids. It is an all-natural plant-based substance which has been developed to treat stubborn pockets of fat underneath the surface of the skin in the subcutaneous layer (the fatty layer) across many areas of the body including double chins, bingo wings, thighs, hips, knees and the abdomen.

The human body has fatty deposits in areas like the abdomen and thighs which supply energy in times of need. However, due to a genetic predisposition, some fatty deposits cannot be broken down by diet and exercise alone, and the weight cannot be shifted leaving small sections and rolls of unsightly fat in particular areas across the body.

Areas start from £45

On average small areas require 2-4 sessions.

On average large areas required 3-8 sessions.

Benefits:

  • Fat Dissolve is a safe, effective fat dissolving injection treatment

  • It produces long-lasting results, which means you can banish those unwanted small areas of stubborn exercise-resistant fat.

  • Can be used to target and treat many areas.

  • It is very effective for body contouring and skin tightening

  • A non-invasive alternative to liposuction.

How does Fat Dissolve work?

It works by causing the dissolution of fat cells. The injections cause the fat cells to become unstable and breakdown the subcutaneous fat over a month and in most cases starts to work straight away once the Aqualyx is injected. Once broken down the body’s immune system eliminates the fatty acids via the lymphatic system and liver allowing the body to expel and release the fatty acids naturally.

Unlike liposuction, this treatment minimally invasive and will also cause skin tightening in the area, meaning you are less likely to end up with loose skin and more likely to feel more contoured and toned as a result.

A consultation is needed to assess the area and advise a treatment plan and cost prior to any treatment.

After a thorough consultation and discussion and all required paper work is completed I will clean the area and a grid-like area will be marked out on the skin with a pen. The Fat Dissolve injections will then be administered into the fat layer of the skin. The number of doses is dependent on the individual and particular treatment area.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

It is best practice to refrain from taking any medication that causes thinning of the blood 5 days prior and 5 days after treatment as these can contribute and result in an increased risk of bruising. These include any painkiller medication that contains Aspirin or Ibuprofen (not directly prescribed by your doctor) and Vitamin supplements including; St. John’s Wort, Fish oils, Garlic, Gingko Biloba, Vitamins A-E. Also, refrain from drinking alcohol 2 days before and 2 days after treatment for the same reasons.

To help minimise bruising and swelling as quickly as possible take Arnica tablets 5 days prior to treatment and you can also apply Arnica cream or gel before bedtime to reduce swelling after treatment.

FAQ’s

Are there any side effects to this treatment?

After each treatment patients can expect swelling, redness and skin irritation and tenderness in the area treated, which will subside/ ease after 7-14 days.

What is the downtime?

For the first few days you may experience will discomfort so it is best to rest and take things easy. Depending on each individual person you may still experience some slight discomfort for the following few weeks but then this will subside.

Is the Fat Dissolve treatment suitable for me?

If you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and are close to your ideal body weight but have isolated stubborn areas of fat, then Fat Dissolve might be suitable. Popular areas that we treat are double chins, saddlebags, inner thighs, love handles, back and bra folds, and the abdomen.

This treatment is not intended for weight loss. The area needs to have a good blood supply to it, so it is not suitable for those with a large overhang of loose tissue. We generally recommend treatments areas to be roughly the size of the hand palm.

What are the side effects of Fat Dissolve?

Minimal side effects have been reported globally since its introduction, but patients can expect a little skin irritation, bruising and oedema, which will ease after a few days.

Are the results permanent?

Whilst the body can regenerate fat cells – the process is very slow. So once fat cells are removed from a localised area your results are as good as permanent.

However, if you do not continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle then your body will put on weight in other areas where fat cells remain.

Is it safe?

Fat Dissolve has a very strong safety record supported by sound medical advice. There are very few adverse effects reported, other than swelling for 7-10 days after the treatment which can be uncomfortable. Complications are very rare but can include pain, bruising and itching.

How quickly will I see results?

A reduction in fat deposits can often be seen after just one treatment, however the stated number of sessions (between 2-8 depending on area being treated) are required to see the optimal effect.

The speed at which the results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes.

How many sessions are required?

On average for smaller areas 2-4 sessions required. For larger around 3-8 sessions on average are required.
